HT is Awarded a Contract to Develop Fabrication Methods for Photonic Crystal Materials (April 2005)

Photonic Crystals (PCs) are the newest class of optical materials which promises to revolutionize how light is manipulated. The nanoscopically periodic materials can one day replace many existing optical elements and more importantly perform entirely new operations of light. This class of materials is expected to revolutionize the field of photonics in the next few decades.

HT has been awarded a SBIR Phase I research contract to investigate a means of making high-performance PC devices an engineering practicality. HT has teamed up with the University at Buffalo to co-develop a photopolymer-based PC that incorporates high index nanoparticles and holographic methods to achieve the high contrast, crystallographic ordering.

HT will work with its technical and business collaborators to develop these materials and methods to achieve the necessary performance, develop IP, and work with endusers to apply this technology to practical purposes.

Hybrid Technologies (HT) teams up with Digitial Optics Technology, Inc. (DOT) to Develop a High-speed, optical image analyses system (January 2006)

High capacity holographic recording materials and a novel massively parallel optical correlation system architecture are being developed by HT and DOT. This system will permit hundreds tens of thousands of images to be analyzed optically and in parallel to search for objects and features buried within them.

Holographic analyses of image information is orders of magnitude faster than conventional techniques and therefore permits the analyses of particularly large databases in a very short time.
